Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Does it take a lot of my time?

While that is conditional, based on the amount of planning you desire, your involvement is necessary during the planning phase of all projects. Initially, we need to gather information about you, your family, your finances and your goals. You will need to complete a thorough questionnaire at the outset, just like when you begin to work with a new doctor, who needs your health information. Then their will be at least one, and likely more, meetings with the adviser to review the plan. These reviews are critical for the client (and spouse). Even if one partner “handles” the finances, we want both to understand and be comfortable with the recommendations.
  2. Do you schedule evening or weekend appointments?

As a rule we do not work with clients other than normal business hours. The industry experience is that those that are serious about their financial plans understand it is a professional service than is conducted during business hours. There are financial sales representatives that will meet anytime, anywhere, just to sell you a product. That’s called commission-based sales, not independent financial advice.
  3. How much does it costs?

The average client pays as low as 800 for a single engagement, such as a pre-retirement plan. While investment management fees vary according to the portfolio size, they are generally 0.75% of total assets of $500,000 or greater. Specific fees are provided after the complimentary consultation based on your specific circumstances.
  4. Will you work with out-of-town clients?

Yes, it is common to work with clients in many different locations. This allows clients to get advice from an adviser that most aligns with their own needs and philosophy. The technology capabilities today of computers and the Internet make interaction and support very convenient. In most cases, a face-to-face is preferred at some point during the initial planning phase with new clients.
  5. How will my account be serviced and maintained?

Your account will be routinely monitored and reviewed to ensure it stays in alignment with your written Investment strategy. When necessary, your portfolio mix will be rebalanced to preserve your asset allocation and generate income when needed.
  6. How do you get paid?

Clients pay fees to Covenant Advisors. There are no commissions from products we recommend. For instance, if you engage us for a one-time comprehensive financial plan that covers investments, retirement, estate and insurance recommendations, then 50% of the quoted fee is due at the beginning of the planning phase. The remaining is due when we provided the final analysis and recommendations. If you chose to have Covenant manage your investments, then you will authorize for the management fees to be deducted quarterly from the custodian.
  7. Do you have minimum amounts before providing services?

We have no minimum investment amount and offer our on-going Financial Advisor Service for those with a primary interest in professional advice for company-sponsored 401(k), 403(b), pension plans, IRAs, Deferred Compensation, Stock Options and other investment plans.
